Our Mission
At the YICA, our mission is to foster a spirit of good citizenship and active community engagement within a multi-racial, multi-cultural, multilingual and multi-faith society.
We are dedicated to promoting awareness, appreciation, and understanding of India's rich culture and history, inclusive events and community participation.
By working both independently and alongside like-minded organisations, we aim to create meaningful opportunities for cultural exchange, learning, and mutual respect. YICA is committed to building strong connections that reflect our shared vision of unity through diversity.
Through these efforts, we continue to celebrate the vibrancy of Indian heritage while strengthening bonds within the wider York Community.

Our Story
YICA (York Indian Cultural Association) was officially founded in 2005 by Mahendra Ji and Usha Ji Verma, inspired by their deep passion for celebrating and promoting Indian culture within the city of York. Mahendra Ji served as the Founder Chai, alongside Prakash Reddy as Secretary.
What began as small, informal gatherings for festivals, music nights, and shared meals soon blossomed into cherished cultural organisations that became a cornerstone of York's Indian community.
Today, YICA stands as a vibrant community hub, bringing together people each year. From grand celebrations like Diwali, Holi, Independence Day, and many others, we've continued to grow - with the community and for the community.
